Prof. Hai Yang

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, China

BiographyProf. Hai Yang is currently a Chair Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his Bachelor degree from Wuhan University, China, and PhD from Kyoto University, Japan. Prof. Yang specializes in analysis, modeling and optimization of transportation systems and transportation economics. He is internationally known as an active scholar in the field of transportation, with more than 300 papers published in SCI/SSCI indexed journals and an H-index citation rate of 70. Most of his publications appeared in leading international journals, such as Transportation Research, Transportation Science and Operations Research. In recognition of his outstanding research, Prof. Yang has received a number of national and international awards, including JSCE Outstanding Paper Award (1991); Distinguished Overseas Young Investigator Award from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) (2004); National Natural Science Award bestowed by the State Council of China (2011); HKUST School of Engineering ResearchExcellence Awards (2012); Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) (2020); and 2021 ASCE Francis C. Turner Award.

Prof. Yang was conferred Chang Jiang Chair Professor by the Ministry of Education of China (host university: Beihang University) and Guest Chair Professor of Tsinghua University and Beijing Jiaotong University. He is an elected permanent member of the International Advisory Committee of the prestigious International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory (ISTTT). Prof. Yang served as the Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Research (TR) Part B: Methodological from 2013 to 2018, a prestigious journal in the field of transportation. Currently, Professor Yang serves on the Distinguished Editorial Board of TR Part B, Scientific Council of TR Part C: Emerging Technologies, and serves as an Advisory Editor of Transportation Science.

Prof. Ronghui Liu

University of Leeds, UK

Biography: Professor Ronghui Liu, Professor of Networks and Transport Operations, at the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds, UK.  She received her BSc from Peking University and PhD from Cambridge University.  Before joining ITS Leeds, she was a Research Fellow at University College London, and while at ITS, she was seconded to head the Transport Modelling Division at TRL, UK in 2005.  She served as an Associate Editor for journal IEEE Transaction on Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Member of Editorial Board of IET Journal of Intelligent Transport. Her research areas span a number of themes in the field of transport studies: in vehicle dynamics and traffic microsimulaton model developments; in traffic control theory and algorithms; in travel behaviour and Intelligent mobility; in stochastic models and reliability analysis; in public transport operations and controls; in timetabling and schedule coordination; and in train control and railway traffic management systems.  She is particularly interested in the interrelationships between these themes, and methodologies for estimation, design and evaluation of their network-wide effects.

Assoc. Prof. Zhiwei Wang 

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Biography: Dr. Wang is currently associate professor in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTU. He received his PhD degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Bachelor degree from Beijing Jiaotong University. With both degrees in transportation engineering, Dr. Wang's research interests focus on Integrated land use-transportation planning; Transport network modeling and analysis, Public transport operations and planning, Logistics and network analysis. Dr. Wang is currently the Deputy Director of Transportation Research Centre @ NTU.

Prof. Liang Zhe

Tongji University, China

Biography: Liang Zhe is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the inaugural continuation project of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is also a Shuguang Scholar of Shanghai, an Outstanding Academic Leader of Shanghai, and a tenured distinguished professor at Tongji University. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore, his master's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from New Jersey State University, USA. His theoretical research primarily focuses on large-scale combinatorial optimization and integer programming, while his applied research centers on transportation and logistics, especially airline operations management. He has published over 40 papers in leading journals in management science and transportation, including Operations Research (1), INFORMS Journal on Computing (4), Transportation Science (4), Transportation Research Part B (7), and European Journal of Operational Research (7).

Prof. Lu Zhen

Shanghai University, China

Biography: LuZhen is currently the Dean of the School of Management at Shanghai University, a Professor at the second tier, and a doctoral supervisor. He serves as the Chair of the Degree Evaluation Sub-Committee for Economics and Management Disciplines and is a member of the University Academic Committee. He is the head of the first-level doctoral program in Management Science and Engineering at Shanghai University, the director of the postdoctoral research station in Management Science and Engineering, the leader of the plateau discipline construction project for Management Science and Engineering, the principal investigator of the high-level university project for building a “First-Class Business” discipline, and the leader of the strategic innovation team for “Intelligent Logistics and Supply Chain Management” at a Shanghai high-level local university.

He has been recognized as an expert receiving the State Council Special Government Allowance, a recipient of the National Distinguished Young Scientist Fund, a recipient of the National Excellent Young Scientist Fund, a “Young Yangtze River Scholar” awarded by the Ministry of Education, a Shanghai Young Talent, a Shanghai “Eastern Scholar” Distinguished Professor, a Shanghai Shuguang Scholar, and a Shanghai Pujiang Talent. He is also an ORS Fellow (Fellow of the UK Operational Research Society), an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar in China, and ranked among the global Top 2% scientists in the “Annual Scientific Impact” and “Lifetime Scientific Impact” rankings.

Assoc. Prof. Jiancheng Long

Hefei University of Technology, China

Biography: Jiancheng Long is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Hefei University of Technology. His main research areas include urban traffic network optimization and management, dynamic traffic assignment theory and methods, shared transportation system modeling and optimization, and public transportation operations and management. In recent years, he has served as the principal investigator for seven projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as projects supported by the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Program, the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation’s Young Teachers Fund for Higher Education Institutions, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and major science and technology projects in Anhui Province. He has published more than 80 papers in important domestic and international journals.

In 2013, he was selected for the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Support Program. His research achievements in dynamic traffic assignment were featured in the 2014 Annual Report of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He received the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund in 2015 and won the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award in 2018. One of his papers was selected for the “2018 Decade of Sustained Impact Paper Award” by Science China. In 2019, he received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. In 2021, he was honored as an Advanced Individual in Professional Ethics by the Anhui Provincial Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports System. He won the Second Prize of Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Award in 2022 and the First Prize in 2024.

He currently serves as Senior Associate Editor of the academic journal Digital Transportation and Safety, and is an editorial board member of Control and Decision and Transportation Systems Engineering and Information. He is an executive director of the Chinese Society of Management Science and Engineering, vice chairman of the Anhui Nonlinear Science Society, and deputy director of the Transportation Management Branch of the Management Science and Engineering Society.

Prof.Huijun Sun

Beijing Jiaotong University, China

Biography: Huijun Sun is a second-tier professor at the School of Systems Science, a nationally recognized high-level talent, and a doctoral supervisor. He has received numerous honors including the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award, the Fok Ying Tung Young Teacher Award, and the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Program. He has dedicated himself to research on the operation and management of complex urban traffic systems, serving as principal investigator for over 20 national-level projects such as those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In the past five years, he has published more than 80 papers in top-tier journals and has received over ten provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards. His main research areas include transportation planning and management, systems science, modeling and control of complex traffic systems, integrated analysis of comprehensive transportation systems, big data, and intelligent systems.
